Brazil, Curitiba: Batel Grill Churrascaria Review

WOW! WOW! WOW!  What a wonderful establishment and the first of it's kind that we have had exposure to.  We were treated to a business dinner by colleagues who felt this was the best restaurant in town for absolutely delicious yet authentic meals and boy, were they correct!

Batel Grill Churrascaria is located quite near to the Four Points by Sheraton Curitiba hotel which we have reviewed in a previous post but to be honest, even if it were an hours drive away... we would still ensure we have dinner there before leaving Curitiba!

Churrascaria, as defined by wikipedia is "a place where meat is cooked in Churrasco style, which translates roughly from the Portuguese for 'barbecue'".  Indeed, Batel grill is definitive in its name itself however the restaurant offers so much more than barbequed meat.  With a wide variety of meals options ranging from sushi, salads, sides, grilled meats, pasta's and desserts... Batel also provides the option for vegetarians to enjoy a meal at the establishment as well.

We arrived in the evening for supper and were promptly seated by one of the many friendly and efficient staff members.  However we must mention that upon arrival, the restaurants innovative, architectural design and flaming heaters gave a wonderful insight of what we could be in store for.  Frequented by both local Curitibans and foreigners, Batel Grill is the popular choice for buffet dinners in the area.

During our dinner, we learned that Batel Grill is run by a husband and wife team (Cristiano and Ana Claudia Mocellin) who prides themselves on offering customers not only innovative meals but the highest quality finest foods.  

At each of the dining tables is an indicator which you can change to Red for no further service or leave on Green for further service.  This allows the staff to recognise whether they should continue offering you the freshly grilled, juicy and absolutely well flavoured meat from the grill and pasta's fresh out of the kitchen.

Needless to say, go with a pent up appetite as the appetiser option alone has so much variety that you can't help but want to try a little of everything. 

Our overall rating is a 5 out of 5 (we would rate it higher if it were possible) for Excellent food, Attentive Staff and Value for money.
